Welcome to the Auction...

Greetings friends and strangers! You have stumbled across my first ever internet auction...a fundraising opportunity for a trip I will be participating in over the Christmas holidays - 2006. I will be - hold your breath - CHAPERONING a highschool group from a local high school of almost 30 students. I know, I know...CRAZINESS! I have been volunteering at HDCH for over a year now, and this is a great opportunity to connect with the kids.
Instead of flat-out asking for money (something I have never really mastered) I thought I'd get a little creative with it...scary thought! What's on the block you might be asking? ME! Another scary thought...before you let your imagination wander, let me explain. I was looking over my mad skills and upcoming Christmas schedule and wondering how I could raise my money before Christmas. I know Christmas is an expensive time for most people with gift-giving and other charities in need of donations, so I got this crazy idea of donating my time - maybe tie it in with a Christmas gift or something. Not to mention that donations over $50 receive tax receipts. That way people wouldn't feel like they were dishing out a heap of money around Christmas and actually getting something in return! So this could totally flop or be an overnite success...either way, I hope you get as good a laugh as I did putting this together!!!
This is a guilt-free site, so please feel free to peruse the market...if you find something that interests you and would like to bid, please post a comment underneath the item with your name and phone#. If the post is marked "unlimited item", that means there is more than one available and you will pay the rate listed. If the post has "highest offer", a bidding war will ensue! All bids will close December 15, 2006. Have fun...thanx for visiting and a Merry Christmas to all!

pictures pictures everywhere...

So we've established that I do photography somewhat for a living...so as I thought to myself (which is a dangerous past time that often gets me into trouble!) I figured I could donate some of my time as a photographer and raise some funds...and somehow it spiralled into this whole online auction thing...which has been heaps of fun trying to drum up ideas for - even if nobody bids...although it would be more fun if they do of course!!! I'm rambling...for those unfamiliar with my photojournalistic style (definition: candid/natural shots, not formal!) I have been taking photos for years of kids, families, couples...you name it! This auction item would cover one session (usually 1 - 1 1/2 hours) and all digital high-res colour images provided on disc. Since you are getting a receipt for your donation, if you would like B&W film/prints/album, they would be billed seperate of the sitting fee at cost.
$100.00/sitting fee

one with the land...

I can't believe I'm actually signing myself up for this, but I'm trying to stretch out on all my skills and hopefully putting things up of use to some of you folks! Landscaping has been a hobby of mine for a few years... I know, weird hobby. But it has been an interesting means of opening doors and meeting new peeps... hence my connection with the great north! I usually only take one project on a summer... and this year was a pond for my mom. Sorry... can't make a promise like that for the lucky bidder, but what I am willing to do is 1 day of landscaping (8 hours max) - whether that is designing, digging, or laying stone...sorry - I don't do plants. Even after working at a green house for the summer, I still kill plants! My mother's a better plant-friendly person to talk to...
Bidding starts @ $100.00

nunchuk skills

If Napoleon could get a prom date with his mad upper-lip shading skills and his sweet brown VV Suit, I've got to have some skills that would be of SOME use...maybe if I danced like him, people would pay me to stop. Or maybe I could agree to feed "Tina" for a week - but I have a bad trend of killing other peoples pets. Or maybe I'll just stick to baking a cake...I forgot...Pedro got shot down on that one! GOSH...I guess I'll just leave you with this freebee plug...

fill the walls...

As reiterated about a bagillion times, I've got a thing with my camera! Now along my travels and everyday musings I've acquired a few that would be semi-wall worthy. I have never sold my photos publicly...so this is a first - even a test - to see if any of my photos would reach the calibre of making it on someone ELSE'S wall...no pressure! So...here's the deal...I have posted a selection of my pics on my flickr account:

If you find one you like, include the filename in the comment box, plus the size of the enlargement you are looking for. Cost does not include frame or actual print.

party planning...

So I'm looking for ideas...and I'm thinking about all the things I like to do, and am at least half skilled at doing! And what more do I enjoy than hosting a party?!! Although I am no Martha Stewart, I can hold my own when it comes to putting on a spread. Want to throw a party? Don't want to deal with the hassle of food? You don't have to look any farther! From appetizers to desserts - have your own personal caterer - for food prep and serving your guests! Food is an additional cost - depending on menu and number of guests.
Bidding starts @ $75.00

this one's for you mom...

Okay... so I'm a wee bit busy and can never seem to get coffee time in with my mom, and as I'm putting this whole thing together, I'm realizing I should probably do that! Consider this a date - without even donating...I think it's a little overdue!
And for all my other moms worldwide...wish I could sip on a cup o'java with you and catch up on all your adventures!
Special tribute to my BC dad who is always good for an after dinner latte!

Dinner for two...

As most of you know I LOVE hosting dinner parties... especially for friends and family. From decorating the table to choosing what new recipe to serve my "guinea pigs" - it's always an adventure down to the last detail! Although I can't promise the oceanic view, I can guarantee an evening you won't forget. You will be wined (unless you abstain from the bottle!)and dine on fine cuisine...and I'm not talking Mac&Cheeze! Menu/location is flexible...for all you single folks - I regret this deal does not come with a date.

cheaper by the dozen...

It is a long standing joke in my warped sense of humour that to finance my education and life in general, I could always sell my eggs. My mom doesn't find the joke at ALL funny...but I figured I could still extend the humour into my auction! My grandfather made his fortune selling eggs back in the day, and so to carry on tradition in a less-warped mode, I thought I would bring "Sonja" to the table. I'm sure there are at least a couple of my bidders that remember the grade school lessons on taking care of babies using hard-boiled eggs as our subjects. Yeah...they actually made you carry around hard-boiled eggs for a week! We, of course, had to accessorize our eggs and some even ventured to take on the daunting task of having twins or triplets! We were such great "parents". Hope you had a fun trip down memory lane...Accessories sold seperately!

artificial intelligence

Who would have thunk you could actually bid on THE piece of paper that would enable you to receive the fortune of attaining the highest level of intelligence known to man! I can feel the wisdom already... maybe I should keep the paper for myself! Or maybe I should just read James 1 and get the real scoop on adding to my brain cells...

girls only...sorry guys!

Yes... this is a girls only auction item - altho I know some of you boys may desperately need a fresh coat of polish! I would love to help you out, but I will admit to trusting where the feet of a girl has been over a guy! Call it discrimination - I like to call it hygiene!
Anyways, up for grabs is a spa nite for two... including a foot bath, massage and pedicure. Bring a friend and enjoy a relaxing girls evening out - complete with tea and goodies!
Price: $50/evening

Sidebar...if your toes look like this, I would love to help you - but I am NOT a miracle worker! You will have to go to a trained professional...really!

whaddya got in your pic-i-nic basket Boo Boo?!!

Okay...so I've ALWAYS wanted to do this, and this may be my only chance: the old school auction-off of the picnic basket! For those of you unaware of this custom, girls would pack a picnic basket full of tasty treats, and the guys would bid on them supposedly unaware of who the picnic basket really belonged to. The winning bidder would then get to share his lunch with whoever had put the basket together. Unfortunately you all know who's putting the basket together... but I still thought I would post it for fun. NO - I am NOT fishing for a date... I will, however, need a background check before you can begin bidding! I reserve the right to invoke house rules in my favour on this one!!!
This is the one and only...highest offer!

last but not least...

This is for something for everyone and it's free!!! Whether or not you can make a donation, I hope you will commit to keeping us in your thoughts and prayers. We will be travelling a HEAP during our two weeks, and no doubt will have fun with the dietary and climate/elevation changes. Woot! Woot! I look forward to seeing how this trip will impact all those involved, and sharing our adventures!
